Data Migration to GCS Leading To 30% Cost Savings
Problem Statement:
We were approached by a leading hospital management system provider facing scalability and maintenance issues with their on-premises infrastructure running on .NET and Oracle 11g.
The challenge was to move their critical hospital management application to the cloud and improve its scalability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness. We performed a detailed assessment and shared a comprehensive as-to-be architecture, timeline, and cost.
Solution:
Setting up a landing zone on Google Cloud, implementing security and role-based access control (RBAC), and lifting and shifting their application to Google Cloud. We migrated their Oracle database to Google Cloud’s managed PostgreSQL service and ensured compatibility of their data access layer with the new environment.
In addition, we migrated over 40 interface applications supporting their hospital management system to Google Cloud. We conducted extensive performance testing to ensure the system worked as per defined SLA and provided a disaster recovery plan post-migration.
Outcome:
Significant cost savings of approximately 30%, cloud benefits such as scalability and reliability, reduced manpower required for maintaining their data center, better monitoring, log analytics, and easier traceability of production issues.
