Problem Statement:
One of our clients approached us with a challenge. They were using Open-Source Databases such as Postgres, MySQL, and MariaDB on a containerization platform deployed in VMs. However, they were facing issues related to high availability, connectivity, performance, and security of the service. They wanted to migrate their databases to Kubernetes to take advantage of the platform’s powerful features such as automated scheduling, self-healing capabilities, automated rollouts, and rollback, scalability, ease-of-use, and portability.
Solution:
Our team of experts started by benchmarking and evaluating different Kubernetes services to determine the best solution for our client’s needs. We helped them implement the best Kubernetes service that provided improved external network performance to their database. We also helped them determine and implement high-performance, low-latency disk storage for better data read and write performance.
To enhance the network and security of the Kubernetes environment, we implemented network and security policies. Additionally, we provided a solution to minimize failover time and make it a seamless experience when our custom controllers were used during failover inside the Kubernetes cluster.
Outcome:
Our solution helped our client leverage the powerful features of Google Cloud’s Kubernetes platform, including automated scheduling, self-healing capabilities, and automated rollouts and rollback. This resulted in improved efficiency, performance, and security of their database services.
By implementing network and security policies, we were able to enhance the security of our client’s Kubernetes environment. Additionally, our solution helped minimize failover time and made the experience seamless for our client, resulting in improved high availability.
At Stilbon, we are committed to helping our clients optimize their database services by leveraging the power of Google Cloud’s Kubernetes platform. Contact us today to learn more about our database migration and optimization services.
